Panevėžys has welcomed two exceptional virtual reality projects – “Creation of the Worlds” and the already popular “Trail of Angels”. The premiere took place at the Panevėžys City Art Gallery, which becomes a gateway to a unique artistic world.
These experiences come to the capital of Aukštaitija after a very successful tour of Lithuania, during which the creative team visited more than 70 cities and towns. As Panevėžys was one of the most anticipated stops, it is great to be able to settle here for a longer period of time – visitors will be able to enjoy the experience until 7 June.

Jovita Nalevaikienė,Director of the Panevėžys City Art Gallery , in her opening speech highlighted the impact of this virtual experience on the knowledge of Čiurlionis: “The work of Mikolaj Konstantinas Čiurlionis is an endless space for discovery, and these VR experiences allow us to look at it with completely new eyes.”
“The Trail of Angels has already become a kind of calling card for the project, with visitors often remarking on the calmness, concentration and inner harmony they experience. Creation of the Worlds, meanwhile, invites the viewer to an even more intense experience, in which the viewer not only observes but also actively participates in the creative process.

Justė Keršienė, the representative of the organising team and Executive Director of the project, emphasised the importance of the project for the city in her welcoming speech, “It is especially gratifying that Čiurlionis’ works have found their home in Panevėžys – in the Panevėžys City Art Gallery. We believe that this space will become not only a meeting place with art, but also a living source of inspiration for all the city’s inhabitants and visitors. We hope that this project will encourage even more people to discover this place, to return to it again and again, and that the content they experience here will inspire them to create and dream.”

This year’s stay in Panevėžys is also marked by a novelty – the “Viewer’s Journey”. This is a specially created introductory biographical narrative that helps visitors to better understand the symbols, philosophy and emotional context of M. K. Čiurlionis’ work. This preparation allows for a deeper, more personal and conscious experience of the virtual experience.
Virtual reality experiences will be available at the Panevėžys City Art Gallery from 9 April to 7 June.
Tickets for the screenings can be purchased here.
