Kristina Buožytė, winner of the Silver Crane Award, invites you to the premiere of the virtual reality experience “Creation of the Worlds” based on the work of Mikolas Konstantinas Čiurlionis. This is the second work of directors Kristina Buožytė and Vitalius Žukas, which takes the audience to the paintings of the most famous Lithuanian artist.
“We didn’t use a lot of material in our first virtual reality experience, ‘Trail of Angels’. A lot of spectacular, amazing and unique paintings were left out. That’s why ‘Creation of the Worlds’ was born,” said Buožytė.
In the hugely popular virtual reality experience “Trail of Angels”, viewers could immerse themselves in some of Čiurlionis’ paintings, while in “Creation of the Worlds” they could immerse themselves in others.

This virtual reality experience is presented in the run-up to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Lithuania’s most famous artist. It is inspired by M. K. Čiurlionis’ cycle of paintings “Creation of the World”.
“When he started this cycle, Čiurlionis planned to create 100 paintings. Unfortunately, he died very early and did not realise this dream,” said K. Buožytė. – In his works, the creation of the world is the creation of the realistic, spiritual, metaphysical, philosophical and creative worlds.
The artist lived in a multidimensional universe where everything connects, inspires each other, and finally inspires the human being.”

Even those who have seen the virtual reality experience of “Trail of Angels” should be surprised – “Creation of the Worlds” is a more interactive work. For example, viewers will be able to get close to the object that fascinates them, to take a closer look.
“We will allow the viewer to feel freer in the wonderful world of M.K. Čiurlionis,” said the director.
Čiurlionis himself has written about this cycle of paintings: “I have the idea of painting it for the rest of my life, of course, as I continue to have new ideas. It is the creation of the world, but not our world according to the Bible, but some other world – a fantastic one.”
K. Buožytė and V. Žukas’ project allows to explore these paintings with the latest technologies. However, many viewers of The Creation of the Worlds will probably ask: “How would M. K. Čiurlionis himself react to this work?”
K. Buožytė pointed out that M. K. Čiurlionis was a very progressive artist.
“We even like to say that he was a pioneer of multimedia – he created music, wrote, painted,” said K. Buožytė. – This harmony of the arts is what virtual reality is all about. It is the virtual reality platform that allows us to open the door to the world in which he lived.
“Creation of the Worlds” is about the world being given to us as a gift. We try to learn about it, we grow and mature in it. And then we become the guardians and custodians of the world we are in and the worlds we create.”

What does “Creation of the Worlds” mean to the director herself?
“If we look at it philosophically, it is a constant change, a constant movement. It is a journey through maturity, growth. And with every experience of life, the perception of new worlds, new things. This is what we see in Čiurlionis’ paintings,” said the creator of the virtual reality experiences “Trail of Angels” and “Creation of the Worlds”.
