An enchanting VR experience to enrich autumn evenings

From November 11 to December 20, visitors to the Marijampolė Cultural Centre are invited to immerse themselves in the exceptional virtual reality experience Creation of the Worlds. This is the latest work by directors Kristina Buožytė and Vitalijus Žukas, inviting audiences to rediscover the genius of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis and his unique creative universe.

This experience is not a simple walk through the artist’s paintings, but a true journey through time, sound, and sensation. It will enrich long, gloomy autumn evenings, add meaning to the anticipation of the festive season, and allow you to feel what it means to be a creator — to observe, participate, and personally contribute to the shaping of a world. Creation of the Worlds invites you not just to dream, but to truly exist within a dream.

After a successful journey across many Lithuanian cities and towns, the #PoLietuvą project will now stop in Marijampolė, where for more than a month local residents and visitors will have the opportunity to experience this unique journey. It is a rare chance to encounter the work of Lithuania’s most renowned artist, Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, through contemporary means and view it from a new perspective.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen such an immersive product before. I believe this is one of the most meaningful approaches — it allows you to experience, feel, see, and hear. I truly enjoyed it,” said Povilas Isoda, Mayor of Marijampolė.

The project Creation of the Worlds is a metaphysical odyssey through the paintings of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, where archaic myths, religious narratives, and the histories of civilizations intertwine.

Visitors are invited to experience the cycle of the world’s creation, flourishing, destruction, and rebirth — themes expressed by Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis in works such as Creation of the World, The City, The Flood, Serpent Sonata, Fairy Tale, and the renowned The Tale of the Kings.

The soundscape was created by composers Rokas Zubovas and Phil Von, who interpreted the music of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis and enriched it with sounds designed by Vytis Puronas. In this way, image, sound, and movement merge into a single whole, giving the viewer the impression of truly journeying through the visionary world of Čiurlionis.

“We are very proud to present this project in Marijampolė. We believe this experience will captivate both adults and young people alike. We invite all residents and visitors of the city to come to the cultural centre, feel the world of M. K. Čiurlionis, and see his work in a truly distinctive way,” said Austėja Staniulevičiūtė, coordinator of the #PoLietuvą project.

An exclusive opportunity for school students

The creators of the project aim to ensure that the younger generation can also discover the world of M. K. Čiurlionis. For this reason, the educational experience Creation of the Worlds has been included in the Kultūros pasas (Cultural Passport) program, and school students are invited to experience it free of charge by registering via email: edukacijos@technoklase.lt.

“Not everyone gets to visit galleries — especially when thinking about today’s younger generation. However, this project is adapted in a highly modern way,” shared Povilas Isoda, Mayor of Marijampolė.

“The #PoLietuvą project is intended for everyone — from children to seniors, from residents of major cities to communities in small towns. Our goal is for the art of M. K. Čiurlionis to reach everyone,” emphasized Lukas Verpetinskas, Strategic Producer for Development in Lithuania.

Tickets and gift vouchers can be purchased online at angelutakais.lt/marijampole or on site during the event. The number of places is limited, so organizers recommend purchasing tickets in advance.

This year, the project visited more than 60 Lithuanian cities and towns and has already been experienced by over 100,000 people from Lithuania and abroad. The project has also attracted attention beyond Lithuania’s borders, earning international recognition.
