From 21 February onwards, viewers will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in an exclusive virtual reality experience – “Creation of the Worlds”. This work by Kristina Buožytė and Vitalius Žukas gives a new insight into one of Lithuania’s greatest artists, Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, and his ingeniously created universe, where art, music and philosophy merge into a harmonious artistic unity.
The creators of the virtual reality project “Trail of Angels” invite you on an even deeper, more personal journey. “Creation of the Worlds” transports viewers into a mysterious space enriched with symbols, where every sight and sound becomes a bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds. Here, colours become sound, music becomes spectacle, and the whole experience is enveloped in an enchanting atmosphere that invites you to look into and listen to the mysteries of Čiurlionis’ work.

“As I began to delve deeper into the work of Čiurlionis, a huge amount of information and ideas opened up that could not be contained in a single VR experience. We were most captivated by one of the recurring and most relevant themes in his work – creative power, the creation of new worlds”, says director Kristina Buožytė.
The virtual journey is based on the motifs of Čiurlionis’ paintings and music, inviting visitors to experience the cycle of the world’s creation, prosperity, destruction and rebirth. Viewers will be immersed in interpretations of the artist’s most famous works such as The Creation of the World, The City, The Deluge, The Serpent Sonata and The Tale of the Kings. These works combine archaic myths, religious narratives and stories of civilisation, giving the virtual journey a philosophical depth.
One of the most striking features of “Creation of the Worlds” is its interactivity. The unique atmosphere is enhanced by the sound environment created by composers Rokas Zubovas and Phil Von (France) in their interpretation of Čiurlionis’ music. Their music adds even more emotional depth to the project, engages and allows you to experience art in a completely new way.
“We didn’t want interactivity to become just an attraction that distracts people from the here and now. On the contrary, we wanted it to allow the viewer to forget about the everyday world and to be fully immersed in the flow. Therefore, for a large part of the time, you experience yourself as a free bird gliding through Čiurlionis’ Universe. The most important thing is to realise that your flight is not accidental. You yourself influence it. All you need to do is to relax and imagine that you are flying”, says director Vitalijus Žukas.

The project will be presented not only in Lithuania, but also internationally, giving the world audience the opportunity to discover the art of Čiurlionis through the most modern technologies and advanced digital solutions.
“Creation of the Worlds” will be screened across Lithuania from 21 February in permanent spaces in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda and Druskininkai, as well as travelling around the country with the #PoLietuvą project, visiting 12 cities for more than a month each and visiting as many as 53 towns and cities during weekend screenings.
