How will artificial intelligence and other innovations change it? What will be the most in-demand professions? These and similar questions are on the minds of almost every schoolchild today. No wonder they want to understand what the future holds – after all, choosing a career is one of the most important steps in everyone’s life. On 28-29 March, at the Lithuanian Exhibition and Congress Centre “Litexpo”, students had the opportunity to hear the answers to these and other questions at the annual Career & Studies exhibition, where we took part for the first time.

We at Angelų takais understand how technology is changing the world, and how these changes are shaping the worldviews and choices of today’s students. We have noticed that the younger generation is becoming less and less interested in the past, in art and culture, and more and more interested in technology and innovation. So we came up with two ways to not only reach out to students, but also to engage them with cultural products – in a simple way and in a way that young people can understand. One of them is the interactive game “Who are you, Kastuk?”. This is what we presented to all the interested participants of the exhibition.

We were lucky to meet wonderful Lithuanian students and teachers at the exhibition, and to show them the interactive game “Who are you, Kastuk?”, which we developed with Iron Cat. This introduced them to the magical world of Lithuanian artist Konstantin Mikolaj Čiurlionis. We are delighted that more than 100 people – students, teachers and other participants – played this game during the exhibition.

All players saw Čiurlionis’s work in a completely different way this time – virtual reality allowed all players to meet both the artist himself and his wife Sophie. The short but engaging interactive game allowed children, teachers and other participants to not only immerse themselves in the cultural heritage of the Lithuanian artist considered to be a genius, but also to get to know his biography – and at the same time to understand how it is intertwined with the whole of Čiurlionis’ work.

Why is this game so important in today’s career choices? The answer is simple – we’re sure that the interactive “Who are you, Kastuk?” is not just a game, but rather a lesson for the future that can interest and inspire every modern student to take an interest in art. It is not only entertaining but also educational. And, according to the researchers, it is the playful, entertaining element that is so important for today’s children – it helps them to absorb information much better than just sitting in a classroom. Knowing this, we hope that in the future, education will be just that – innovative, engaging and tailored to the needs of today’s pupils.

This hope is reinforced by the reactions of the players – one teacher even called the game we developed a miracle that everyone, students and adults alike, must try. For us, such words are the greatest reward, proving that we are moving in the right direction. We are also very pleased to see that teachers are becoming more and more interested in the latest technologies such as virtual reality. This shows that educators are open to change and want to give children the highest quality, most inclusive education possible.

We look forward to seeing teachers and their students again. We can organise such meetings in every school – we have already visited nearly 300 schools across Lithuania. Children can not only try out the interactive game “Who are you, Kastuk?”, but also watch the virtual reality film “Trail of Angels”. All this is completely free of charge for schoolchildren, simply by using the Culture Passport. And for teachers who invite us to their school, we also give them a gift – they don’t have to pay for the screening.

What will the future labour market look like?
